Installing WordPress might sound technical, but it’s like following a recipe. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it manually:

Note: Many web hosts offer an easier way to install WordPress using a tool like Softaculous or Fantastico in their control panel. This automates the below process, letting you install WordPress with a few clicks.

1. Get Web Hosting and a Domain Name:
You need a place on the internet where your website will live—that’s what web hosting is. Think of it as renting a small piece of the internet. You also need a domain name, which is your website’s address on the internet (like www.yourwebsite.com). Many hosting companies offer a free domain name for one year when you buy hosting.

2. Download WordPress:
Go to WordPress.org and download the latest version of WordPress. It will be a .zip file.

3. Upload WordPress to Your Hosting Account:
Now, you need to upload that .zip file to your web hosting account. You can usually do this using a tool in your hosting account’s dashboard called File Manager. Find the option to upload files and select the WordPress .zip file you downloaded.

4. Create a Database:
While you’re in your hosting account, find a tool called MySQL Databases. You’ll need to create a new database for WordPress. Make a note of the database name, the username, and the password—you’ll need them in a moment.

5. Install WordPress:
Now, in your web browser, go to your domain name. You should see a page called the WordPress installation wizard. It will ask you for the database name, username, and password from the previous step. Fill these in, then click through the next few pages. You’ll be asked to choose a username and password for your WordPress account.

And that’s it! Once the installation is finished, you can log in to your new WordPress site by going to www.yourwebsite.com/wp-admin (replace ‘yourwebsite.com’ with your actual domain name).

Remember, if you get stuck or something doesn’t seem to be working, don’t panic. Your web host’s support team should be able to help you out.
